Software Architecture is the production of software specifications that can be shared amongst all the main actors and stake holders in a project. Software Architecture takes the top view of a system and looks at how the users will interact with the system, and the viability of the software project as a whole.

Software Engineering and Software Architecture are fairly similar, and a Software Architect may also take on a Software Engineer in a project. The distinction between the two roles is very much one of system level. A software architect is responsible for the overall vision of a software technology project, and should be well versed in all the technologies involved in the project, though they may not be involved in the implementation stage of the page.
