POSIX Shell Developer

POSIX Shell is not actually an implemented shell, instead POSIX specify a criteria for a shell. The closest shell to POSIX Shell is the Korn Shell, and often the terms Korn Shell and POSIX Shell are used interchangeably. The Korn shell tends to be used on BSD systems as the default shell.

POSIX is important as other active shell implementations aim to support POSIX. BASH, and ZSH, along with KSH leading the charge aim to support a large proportion of POSIX features. By coding in POSIX scripts gain a cross platform advantage, which often means a script coded in a POSIX can quite easily be run on another Unix style system with little to no modification.
